Make your Syncro Vanagon ride like a car instead of a motor home!

The stock Vanagon springs on a Syncro Westfalia are the same as those VW installed on the passenger Syncro. They are not really adequate for a camper's additional weight and driving a heavily loaded Syncro Westfalia can be a harrowing experience in an emergency.

We have designed these springs for the Westfalia and other Syncro campers to make them handle more like the passenger Vanagon. They are stronger in the rear to work nicely with Subaru as well as the added weight of heaters, racks, trailers and other loads.

These springs typically raise the ride height from 1/2-1" depending on the age of your Vanagon and its original springs. These springs are unlike anything now on the market and were developed in 2 1/2 years of testing on the roads of the Northwest.

Recently, we have been selling more and more of these to owners with passenger Syncros (not campers). They love the additional height, the great handling and the improved off road performance. The ride is not overly harsh, and in fact have an improved steering response that make the van feel safer and easier to drive. On a passenger Vanagon the ride height is typically one to two inches higher than with stock springs.

Produced by an OEM spring manufacturer to Small Car's specifications.

Do you really need progressive springs?

In a Vanagon, progressive springs give a ride that is both too soft to control body lean and nose dive. As well as too stiff to ride nicely over larger dips. Click to read more!

Small Car Spring Features:

  • Increased roadholding
  • Less body lean on corners
  • Less nose dive on hard stops
  • Increased ride height
  • Stronger rear spring rate for all engines and extra equipment
  • Factory type progression in the rear, linear in the front

Ride height measured from the center of the axle to the top of the wheel arch. Note that the Westfalias will ride lower on the left because of camper equipment. Your ride height will vary depending on engine, equipment, etc.
