A fantastic low rolling resistance Vanagon tire, a bit taller than stock for lower rpm's at speed. This is the new LRR tire that is very similar to our best selling Nokian but offering better mileage and other innovations. They have great traction, handling and braking in dry weather but also handle wet roads as well as winter conditions. The XL rating stands for extra-load, which means that they handle a fully loaded Van easily and still give that quick response to steering corrections that inspires confidence.

Nokian Tyres is the world’s first tire manufacturer to introduce a production method using earth friendly oils. The eNTYRE is manufactured using only low aromatic, purified oils. These purified oils keep Nokian's tires from polluting the environment as the tire gradually wears down. The eNTYRE's advanced compounds also reduce rolling resistance and thus improve your car’s fuel efficiency. Low rolling resistance not only saves you money at the gas pump but it also reduces your carbon footprint by lowering your CO2 emissions.

Some info about tires.

The general trend in the last few years is toward larger wheels with lower profile and wider tires. Until 20 years ago, only sports cars had original equipment wheels larger than 15 inches. The last decade has seen increasing wheel sizes on many average vehicles like SUVs and minivans. Those wheels and the lower profile tires they use offer better cornering and stability and are important for vehicles with higher horsepower engines.

Reasons to use smaller wheels and higher profile tires;

  • cheaper tires
  • better pothole resistance and off road performance
  • quieter softer ride
  • lower risk of aquaplaning

Reasons to use larger wheels and lower profile tires;

  • better cornering
  • more stopping traction
  • sharper response in an emergency
  • lower engine rpm
  • larger wheel allows for larger brakes

For a Vanagon, we believe the middle of the range in tire profile and in all around performance would be a 65 series. Higher profiles (70 and 75 series) offer a softer ride and possibly better off-road performance while lower profiles (60 and 55 series) tend to better handling and stopping.
