New - Now includes more detailed installation instructions and special wiring directions for Westfalias
After completing over 2000 harnesses for Subaru conversions, we are pleased to offer this service. Your original Subaru harness is rebuilt to be installed into a Vanagon or other vehicle. OBD2 harnesses include our interface board to help eliminate 7 fault codes common on these installations. Please note that some codes, automatic transmission for example, may still be present although they do not affect engine performance or operation. Your harness will be returned to you with simple installation instructions and most of the Vanagon connectors preinstalled. All harnesses go through a basic functionality test before leaving our shop, where we check for correct main and fuel pump relay operation. Wire lengths vary between Subaru models but all harnesses are rebuilt to allow the ECU to be placed in the stock location (for 86 and later) under the rear seat. For 85 and earlier Vans, they can also be installed there. All wires to the vehicle are clearly marked and the alternator and A/C wires are tagged if this harness is supplied to us. Please let us know what type of speed sensor you will be using. If you choose to use our speed sensor, we will prewire that for you. 1986 and later Vanagon will need the modified tach.
Vehicle wire connections provided are for 83-91 Vanagons. All other vehicles please use this instruction as a guide and refer to your vehicle wiring diagram.
When you send in your harness, please include the main relay, fuel pump relay and ECU. These are necessary for us to be able to do a functionality test on your harness.
Please allow up to 4 weeks after we receive your harness for completion. Harness received without ecu will have the arrival date defer to the date when ecu arrives.
(We regret to say that we cannot accept for service harnesses that have begun modification by someone else)
